At Camp St. Albans and Camp River Ranch Day Classic camp, girls work together to plan their time at camp, so it focuses on the group's interests.
Each day will be brimming with exciting activities you'll share with your camp unit, then each night you'll get to come home and rest up for the next day!
Sample Day Classic Camp Activities
Each Day Classic camp unit chooses from many age-appropriate activities as they plan their time at camp. The activities available vary by camp location because of both the facilities and the surrounding environment. No matter where you go, you'll get to enjoy your favorite camp experiences, but if you're looking for a specific experience, make sure it's available at the camp you choose. Below are some of the most popular activities, with a note on where each is offered.
Swimming: Each camp has swimming areas with American Red Cross lifeguards. Options include early morning swims and long distance challenges. (All)
Boating: Certified waterfront staff supervise all boating activities and everyone wears a personal flotation device. Options include:
- Canoeing (All)
- Sailing (St. Albans)
- Kayaking (River Ranch)
- Row boating (River Ranch)
- Viking boating (St. Albans)
Nature: Experienced program specialists offer activities tailored to girls’ age levels, as well as each camp’s natural environment, including:
- Plant identification (All)
- Gardening (River Ranch)
- Pollinator wall (St. Albans)
Arts and Crafts: Experienced program specialists offer opportunities like tie-dye, friendship bracelets, wand making, leather work or batik. (All)
Leadership Development: Under the guidance of skilled facilitators, girls explore team building and leadership through fun and challenging games. Groups work together on a low ropes course (River Ranch only) to problem solve and have fun. (All)
Outdoor Skills: All campers can develop skills such as hiking, fire building, lashing, campsite set-up and Leave No Trace. (All)

Want Horse Time?
Even with Classic Camp, you can still arrange to have more time working with horses. Some day camp sessions offer either a pony ride or a two-hour horse experience (you'll see the option during registration). This option is only available at Camp River Ranch (additional fees apply) and Camp St. Albans.
